Dorian Gray

The trailer for Oliver Parker’s Dorian Gray has premiered online, starring Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian‘s Ben Barnes and Colin Firth. The film is the second treatment of Oscar Wilde’s book “The Picture of Dorian Gray” and the first since 1945. From IMDb:

A corrupt young man somehow keeps his youthful beauty eternally, but a special painting gradually reveals his inner ugliness to all.

Parker has directed two of Wilde’s works in the past (1999’s An Ideal Husband and 2002’s The Importance of Being Earnest) and one of the better Shakespeare adaptations in 1995’s Othello. Provided that Barnes’ looks aren’t simply used to bring in the Twilight crowd, this certainly can be a respectable film and the trailer has a great creepy aura. They do have their work cut out for them in recreating the famous painting from the 1945 adaptation. The trailer is after the jump.
