Crowe To Star in New Haggis Film

29 07 2009

Russell Crowe has officially been signed on to star in Paul Haggis’ The Next Three Days, a remake of the 2008 French film Pour elle. The original film was about a high school teacher who, after his wife is wrongly imprisoned, creates a plan to break her out. Said Haggis:

“We’ve seen him as the gladiator, but he has embodied the Everyman in so many pictures…The deeper theme here is, would you save the woman you loved if you knew that by doing so, you would turn into a man that woman could no longer love?”

The film is looking to begin production in late September, as Crowe is still filming Robin Hood with Ridley Scott. My favorite part about this headline, however, is that Diane Kruger starred in the French original, which allows me to remind you that Inglorious Basterds is less than a month away. And now: Kruger playing with Nazis. Thank you.
