Harry Potter Extended Editions On The Way

17 08 2009

Get ready for even more Harry Potter on your DVD. Despite it’s widespread popularity, the Harry Potter franchise like any film adaptation, has been criticized for its choices of which scenes it takes out. Warner Bros. is looking to remedy some of those concerns by releasing extended editions cuts of every film in the Potter Franchise.

Warner Bros. Home Video has confirmed to RopeofSilicon that,
“Although we’ve not announced [it yet], all Harry Potter films are being planned to get special upcoming releases!”

This tactic worked for Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy and Zack Snyder’s Watchmen director’s cut and could help restore more to the beloved boy wizard’s story. Blu-ray “Ultimate Collector’s Editions” of the first two films are already available for pre-order on Amazon, and rumors suggest as much as an extra 30 minutes of footage. Obviously, everything still won’t be covered but for fans, it’s the more the merrier for the adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione.
