Watch It!: The Fixer by Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam

Huh? What is going on? Why is a film site posting music videos by Pearl Jam? Relax my fellow geeks, there is a good reason. The video for the first single off of Pearl Jam’s newest album – Backspacer – is directed by none other than Cameron Crowe.

Though his work has been a bit shaky since 2000’s Almost Famous, his semi-autobiographical film about his experiences while writing for Rolling Stone, Crowe’s love of  music has always shown through in his work, be it the various references in his writing, (“side one of Led Zeppelin IV” from Fast Times at Ridgemont High comes to mind) or the soundtracks that sometimes outshine the movie’s themselves (Read: Elizabethtown).

Crowe hasn’t directed a feature film since 2005, but has a currently untitled project due to come out next year with Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon and, surprise, surprise, a Pearl Jam documentary coming out in 2011. After all these years, Pearl Jam has managed to maintain the same great sound they had in the early 1990s and the video is quite cool. Check it out after the break.
