Green Lantern Casting Call

Spoilers TV has uncovered a casting call for Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds, and it may give us some insight to some of the characters that aren’t named Hal Jordan.

According to the call, they are looking for four characters quite essential to the Green Lantern mythology: Carol Ferris, Hector Hammond, Sinestro and Abin Sur. Below I have posted the calls as well as 1-2 sentence biographies of the characters.

[CAROL FERRIS]
26-32, a smart and attractive woman with an MBA. She started as a pilot and now runs Ferris Aircraft. She is a work-a-holic…FEMALE LEAD

While Ferris becomes Star Sapphire somewhere down the line in Green Lantern mythology, she is more likely going to play the Mary-Jane Watson role in this film as Hal Jordan’s love interest.

[DR. HECTOR HAMMOND]
27-35, Character actor who is austere and impersonal, he is real “scummy.” He is a pathologist and also the son of a Senator.

Hammond is another villain in the Green Lantern universe. In the comics, Hammond discovers a crashed meteor and upon witnessing its ability to evolve its surroundings through radiation, exposes a group of scientists so that they will create inventions that Hammond may then sell to gain enormous wealth. From the look of the casting call, his character might be changed a bit.

[SINESTRO]
Mid-30s to Mid-40s, he is smart, tough, intimidating and in great physical shape.

Most likely to be the main villain of the film. Previously Hal Jordan’s alien mentor, Sinestro is the arch villain of the Green Lantern Corps.

[ABIN SUR]
Mid-30s to mid-40s, he is a great warrior.

A member of the Green Lantern Corps who is the one to come to Earth to recruit Hal Jordan.

It has taken DC Comics forever to finally get the rest of the Justice League on film, so this is certainly one of the most highly anticipated films of the next couple of years for me. As a bonus, I’ve included the greatest fan-made trailer of all time for a Green Lantern movie starring Reynold’s Two Guys and a Girl co-star Nathan Fillion. Enjoy.
