The Other Guys

Fresh off of being a tooth fairy, Nick Fury, and a Roman general, Dwayne “Why Do We Still Call Him The Rock” Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Steve Coogan have been cast in The Other Guys, Adam McKay’s next film. From Variety:

Johnson and Jackson will play super cops in the pic helmed by Adam McKay. Coogan is set as the villain.

The thesps join stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. “Other Guys” is set to bow Aug. 6.

Johnson and Jackson will play an elite cop tandem whose exploits are the envy of the department and the second-tier fellow cops played by Ferrell and Wahlberg.

Scripted by Chris Henchy and McKay, the film is a co-production between Gary Sanchez Prods. and Mosaic.

I must say that this sounds pretty amazing only because I think that if I were a criminal and I saw Samuel L. Jackson and The Rock coming after me in an alley, I would be too struck with their sheer awsomeness to run away, which means only one thing: perfect casting. The only flaw is <drumroll> SAMUEL L. JACKSON IS SIXTY YEARS OLD! How the hell does that happen? Why does he still look thirty? Can anyone explain this? Well?

Oh, and Steve Coogan. Horray. (I am actually really happy about this news but how can you continue the high energy from the last paragraph? You just can’t. It’s impossible)
