I missed it, but apparently last night between 10:50 and 11pm Roland Emmerich sank California. In a massive advertising block, for its disaster film 2012, Emmerich’s latest attempt to destroy the world, Columbia bought ad space on nearly 450 television stations in North America last night for a two-minute trailer that hit 90% of the viewing audience. It is CGI at its best/worst as the path of destruction from the end of the world (or at least California) tops even Michael Bay for over the top insanity, and I don’t say that lightly. Bad Boys 3 On The Way?

In what is more of a speculative move, Columbia Pictures has hired The Town screenwriter Peter Craig to work on a script for Bad Boys 3 according to The Hollywood Reporter. At this point neither Will Smith, Martin Lawrence or Michael Bay are attached, but the hope from the studio is to bring all parties back on board in addition to producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau Play Cowboys and Aliens

After having so much fun together working on Iron Man and its sequel Jon Favreau has apparently joined Robert Downey Jr. on an adaptation of Cowboys and Aliens. According to the new blog at The Hollywood Reporter, the director has joined the Dreamworks/Universal project which RDJ has been attached to for over a year. It’s only fair that as soon as Eric goes on vacation one of his favorite actor-director combos decide to work together again. Read the rest of this entry »
