Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze, best known for his roles in Dirty Dancing,  and Ghost, has died at the age of 57 from pancreatic cancer.

Acting in 32 movies since 1979, Swayze put on memorable performance after memorable performance, including some geek favorites such as Red Dawn and Point Break. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Niemi.

Diagnosed with the disease in January 2008, Swayze fought to out last his six month prognosis by almost a year and a half, an exceptionally long period.

His last work was done on the A&E television series “The Beast,” on which he played Charles Barker, a veteran FBI agent, to critical acclaim.

Swayze certainly left an impact on the film world, being nominated for three Golden Globes, and will certainly be missed. Rest in Peace.
