Rant Of The Week: Godfather Vodka

Ok, Hollywood now you’re just pissing me off.

I can deal with product placement in movies, as tacky and poorly handled as they often are. I’m fine with you making more money off of merchandising too. If someone wants to buy a Spider-Man action figure that’s their business, at least it’s tangentially related to the product (and where would itsjustsomerandomguy be without them). But when I have to walk down the aisle a see Godfather-brand vodka that’s where I draw the line.

Rant of the Week: Entertainment Tonight Visits The Set of Iron Man 2

Entertainment Tonight  just premiered some new footage from Iron Man 2 and while I am always excited about more news from what is by far my most anticipated film of next year, I am having a hard time getting over just how horrible Entertainment Tonight really is.

Rant of the Week: Takers… Are They Serious?

No that’s not a horrible photoshop job by me, apparently that’s really the poster for next year’s Takers. I saw it floating around online a few days ago and figured it was just another internet joke, putting the heads of bad actors together in a movie. Instead it’s a real poster from Sony and Screen Gems who are putting a bunch of bad actors (and Idris Elba) together in a movie.

Not every movie can be The Godfather or even Heat which is clearly an inspiration for this, but damn, aspire for something! This movie could not be any more cliché if they tried. Then again it’s obvious from the trailer (after the jump) that they didn’t.

Rant of the Week – Week 3

Some of you have been a little disappointed that there was no rant last week. First of all, shame on you; we already told you this runs whenever we damn well please. Secondly, and more importantly, there really wasn’t much to rant about. We were all treated to back-to-back weekends of wonderful movies (with District 9 and Inglorious Basterds leading the way) and the news looked good. Well never fear, Hollywood will always find a way to bungle things somehow.

This rant was inspired by Peter Jackson’s interview with Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times. I’m just happy somebody in Hollywood has the sense to talk about crap going on around them.
