Rant Of The Week: Godfather Vodka

9 10 2009

Ok, Hollywood now you’re just pissing me off.

I can deal with product placement in movies, as tacky and poorly handled as they often are. I’m fine with you making more money off of merchandising too. If someone wants to buy a Spider-Man action figure that’s their business, at least it’s tangentially related to the product (and where would itsjustsomerandomguy be without them). But when I have to walk down the aisle a see Godfather-brand vodka that’s where I draw the line. Read the rest of this entry »

First Photo: The A-Team

A-Team

Thus far, all of the news about the new A-Team has come in bits and pieces, each actor for Joe Carnahan’s remake coming one soldier of fortune at a time. It all started with Liam Neeson’s casting as the team leader, Col. John ‘Hannibal’ Smith. Then Bradley Cooper as pretty-boy Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck. After a long break and thousands of rumors, the role of B.A. Baracus was given to MMA fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Then, in a flurry, it closed with the casting of District 9‘s Sharlto Copley as Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock as well as the addition of a villain and female lead, Patrick Wilson and Jessica Biel. Then came the van. Now, after months of casting, the new A-Team has finally been photographed together thanks to Comingsoon.net. Read the rest of this entry »

The A Team

With the announcement of Rampage Jackson being cast as B.A. Baracus for the remake of The A-Team last week, the four-man soldiers of fortune team came one man closer to completion, the only key character missing being ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock, played by Dwight Schultz in the series. Even a Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day: Rampage Jackson IS the New B.A. Baracus

8 09 2009

B.A. Baracus - Rampage Jackson(Um…both have a fondness for chains?)

A couple weeks ago I posted an article about how incredibly unreliable the British tabloids are in reference to announcements that Megan Fox was being cast in the next Batman film and that Robin Williams doing a Susan Boyle biopic. Literally as I was writing the article, The Sun printed a story saying that Rampage Jackson, the UFC fighter, was going to be taking the role of B.A. Baracus, made famous by Mr. T, in the A-Team movie due out next year. Out of the three stories, one ended up actually being true. Read the rest of this entry »

Trailer: New York, I Love You

7 08 2009

New York I Love You

Paris, je t’aime is one of my favorite films from the past five years. Each time I watch it, I am stunned by its complexity and its ability to capture the city so perfectly. More so, those responsible for its creation, actors, writers and directors alike, were all of the highest caliber – not one stuck out as a being so untalented that had no place getting involved with the film.

Then I heard wind that they were making a semi-sequel that would focus on New York. Living a half-hour outside the city for my entire life, I liked the idea, despite the fact that the movie was already made in 1989 – New York Stories directed by Francis Ford Coppola, Woody Allen, and Martin Scorsese. But therein lies the problem: Coppola, Allen and Scorsese are the ultimate New York directors. None other in the history of cinema has been able to capture the greatest city in the world like Scorsese and Allen (and to a lesser extent Coppola).

So who did they select to direct a segment of the new film? Brett Ratner. Read the rest of this entry »
