Trailer: Up in the Air

2 10 2009

Up in the Air

Movie Rule #62391: If you have “Passenger” by Iggy Pop in your film’s trailer, it better deliver. I’ve burned before (The Weather Man) and I refuse to be burned again.

Although it feels like just yesterday that the teaser trailer was released, we now have the theatrical trailer for Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air, starring George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick and a slew of comedic stars. While it is still hard to get a read on the comedy/drama balance that the film strikes (not too uncommon with Reitman’s films), this new trailer is certainly a lot brighter than the last, which told us that everything in our lives is simply weighing us down (a real uplifting message.) The film got incredible buzz coming out of the Telluride Film Festival and is sporting a big fat 100% over at Rotten Tomatoes. If you didn’t know already, this is a film to watch for. Check it out after the jump.

Jamie Foxx Signs On For ‘Due Date’

1 10 2009

due-date

Due Date just keeps sounding better and better as the days go by. We were interested when it was just Zach Galifianakis reteaming with Todd Phillips and recapturing some of that Hangover magic. We were pumped when Robert Downey Jr. and Michelle Monaghan signed up, bringing the chemistry from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and now we’re beyond excited that Jamie Foxx has joined the cast. Since nobody saw The Soloist audiences will be treated to Foxx and Downey as long-time friends. Read the rest of this entry »

Trailer: Up in the Air (Teaser)

9 09 2009

Up in the AirYesterday we showed you a brand new clip from Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air and now, thanks to /Film, we have the brand new teaser trailer for the Walter Kirn adaptation.

Surprisingly, the trailer is more dramatic than it is funny (strange for a comedy), but at the same time the whole thing is kind of deep and it also displays what an incredible cast the picture has, images of Jason Bateman (sporting a beard?), Zach Galifianakis (who I didn’t even know was in the movie), Danny McBride and J.K. Simmons (who is in everything these days) coming one after another all while George Clooney delivers a speech reminiscent of his performance in Intolerable Cruelty.

Praise continues to role in from the film’s premiere and while I am not a fan of Juno, the film seems to be more along the lines of Thank You For Smoking. Teaser after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Watch It!: Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis Interviews Charlize Theron

8 09 2009

Between two Ferns

Everyone found out about the awesomeness that is Zach Galifianakis when they went to see The Hangover this summer, but even before that he started a series on Funny or Die called Between Two Ferns in which he performs the most awkward interviews you will find on the internet. Think “The Chris Farley Show” from SNL that allows cursing and instead of the host being in love with the subject, he can’t stand them. He has done six  episodes so far with actors like Michael Cera, Jon Hamm, and Natalie Portman, and today he has brought the beautiful Charlize Theron in and it is amazing for three reasons:

1)  Charlize Theron is super hot.

2)  Skinny dipping at wet thighs are discussed.

3) Charlize Theron is super hot.

Check out the video after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Trailer: Youth in Revolt

25 08 2009

Youth in Revolt

Let’s face a simple fact: Micheal Cera has become a one-note joke. Sure, we all loved him on “Arrested Development” and in Superbad where he played the shy, nervous toddler/teenager. But then he did Juno…and Nick and Norah’s Infinate Playlist…and Year One… where he played the shy nervous toddler/teenager. But now we have the new trailer for Youth in Revolt and I am a bit confused. Read the rest of this entry »

Watch It!: The Ballad of G.I. Joe

10 08 2009

The Ballad of GI Joe

If you haven’t figured it out, this site is pretty anti-G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. We are not, however, anti-G.I. Joe. The toys are great for kids that are age appropriate and the animated series from the 80s was far from the worst thing in the world. That is in large part why we dislike the idea of the new movie: it removes what the original G.I. Joe was all about from public consciousness and replaces it with stupid.

All that aside, Funny or Die has created a new video called “The Ballad of G.I Joe” where the private lives of Joes and Cobras are explored. The clip has quite a cast, including Zach Galifianakis, Vinnie Jones, Alexis Bledel, Billy Crudup, Julianne Moore, Laz Alonso, Olivia Wilde, Alan Tudyk, Henry Rollins, and Buster Bluth (a.k.a. Tony Hale). Perhaps you will like it, perhaps you won’t, but I can sleep at night knowing that Destro likes to play the clarinet with The Baroness and that Snake Eyes enjoys paining landscapes (they make him feel at peace). Check it out after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
