WTF: Blood Energy Potion

29 09 2009

Blood Energy Potion

Two years ago this wouldn’t be film news. Sure, it would be weird (perhaps even weirder than it is today), but it would have no connection to the movie world. Then Twilight had to appear in cinemas and ruin everything, as every thirteen-year-old girl started running out to Hot Topic hoping that an Edward in their life would turn them into a vampire. Of course, because vampires are not real, this is just stupid. Not stupid enough for the people at Urban Collector however. Read the rest of this entry »

Michael Sheen Is Done With Tony Blair

4 09 2009

Michael Sheen - Tony Blair

In 2003, Michael Sheen performed for the first time as former Prime Minister Tony Blair in a made for TV movie called The Deal, directed by Stephen Frears. Evidently, enough studio heads saw it to keep Sheen in the role for seven more years, including 2006’s The Queen for which he was nominated for a BAFTA. Sheen is currently filming The Special Relationship, due out in 2011, which will take a closer look at the ties between Blair and US Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush.

Now, through his Twitter account, Sheen has announced that he is no longer going to play the man who helped reinvent the labour party. Read the rest of this entry »

Robert Downey Jr. Is The New Lestat de Lioncourt?

17 08 2009

Robert Downey Jr. - Lestat

This vampire craze is getting a tad out of hand. With a slew of movies and television shows that have come out recently (ex. Twilight, Thirst, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, etc.) it was only a matter of time before people would return to the woman who changed vampire mythos in film during the mid-1990s – Anne Rice. 30 07 2009

Bryce-Shame

(Ashamed Polar Bear and I are very disappointed)

Bryce Dallas Howard is the daughter of Ron Howard, one of the most successful working directors today, the granddaughter of Rance Howard, and the Goddaughter of Henry Winker. So, with so many talented people surrounding her, how is it possible that she keeps signing on to the worst dreck imaginable. What am I referring to? Why, Twilight of course! From Variety:

Rant of the Week! – Week 1

29 07 2009

(Rant of the Week runs on a whenever we damn well please basis. Please schedule accordingly)

This rant was inspired by Peter Jackson’s interview with Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times. I’m just happy somebody in Hollywood has the sense to talk about crap going on around them.

The writers and directors should be blamed just as much as the studios because really everything seems to be a remake or adapting a 1970s TV show that was never particularly good. Read the rest of this entry »
