Predators: Trejo, Dogs and Falcons Oh My!

30 09 2009

predator

Although he should be directing Sin City 2 instead of rebooting an over-done franchise, news has come regarding Robert Rodriguez’ Predators involving the casting of a Rodriguez regular and reactions from the first look at the script. Read the rest of this entry »

Watch It!: The Best Fight Scene Ever

30 09 2009

Code of the Dragon

Ignore what YouTube has titled this fantastic scene. Much like Samurai Cop takes the cake as my favorite bad movie of all time, this fight scene from Code of the Dragon (a.k.a. The Ghost) is the best bad fight scene of all time. The film is actually American made, but the clip is in German, but you don’t really have to worry about the plot. While I won’t spoil it, it has one character that will certainly surprise you in many ways. Check it out after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Featurette: Production Designer of ‘Where the Wild Things Are’

30 09 2009

WTWTA5

We’ve already posted a featurette with Maurice Sendak and his views on Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are, but now, thanks to I Watch Stuff, we have a nearly twenty-minute long look into the film’s production designer K.K. Barrett. In addition to the upcoming adaptation, Barrett also worked on with Jonze on films such Being John Malkovich and Adaptation.

If the trailers are any indication, the look and feel of  Where The Wild Things Are, particularly in Max’s imaginary world, are going to be what makes or breaks the film. Check out the video after the jump.

Strong, Purefoy and Haden Church All Set For Mars

30 09 2009

Strong - Purefoy - Haden Church

One of the reasons that Pixar is viewed as the king of modern animation is in the fact that they come up with complex and creative ideas for their films, as opposed to Dreamworks, which simply finds an animal and makes them talk (usually latching themselves on to an already completed Pixar film). That said, when Pixar announced that Andrew Stanton, director of A Bugs Life, Finding Nemo and Wall-E, would be directing an adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter of Mars, the fear sunk in that they were scraping for ideas (a blasphemous thought that I kept mostly to myself). But as the cast list continues to grow, now with the addition of Mark Strong, James Purefoy and the confirmation of Thomas Hayden Church, and I remind myself how great the previous Pixar films have been, my confidence is shooting back. Jessica Alba Is A ‘Little Focker’?

30 09 2009

Jessica_Alba

Jessica Alba is in negotiations to join the third film in the Meet The Parents franchise titled Little Fockers according to The Hollywood Reporter. I’ll be honest, while I enjoyed the first movie, I had no idea they were making another sequel which no one wanted, and still haven’t finished Meet The Fockers, but hey, it’s Jessica Alba. She will reportedly play a hot pharmaceutical rep who causes drama with the male characters in film. Undeniably great casting there.

Alba, coming off of shooting Machete, would join Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Teri Polo returning to the cast as well as Owen Wilson. Expect this one sometime next year.

Trailer: Fantastic Mr. Fox (#2)

30 09 2009

Fantastic Mr. Fox

The second trailer for Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr Fox has shown up online and it is nothing short of, for lack of a better word, fantastic. In comparison, the first trailer seemed to be a way to introduce the audience to the animation style with a few funny lines thrown in. The new trailer, however, completely flips the script and gives us a much better idea of what the film is about and, especially, its main character’s motivations. There are some truly funny scenes that will no doubt have you howling (my personal favorite is towards the end with Owen Wilson’s character explaining how to play “Whack Bat.” Prepare to feel good with the trailer below the jump. Watch It!: Star Trek Meets Monty Python

29 09 2009

Star Trek Meets Monty Python

(Chekov! Stop that foolishness and get back to your nucwear wessels!)

Two absolutes: geeks like Star Trek and geeks like Monty Python. So it makes perfect sense that geeks would love “Star Trek Meets Monty Python”. The video is a bit of a throw back (YouTube user StarshipConductor put it up in 2006), but it is so well done that I believe it deserves recognition on this site. Much like most of Python, it is a bit absurdest but quite funny and worth a watch, particularly the beginning which does a great job of syncing up video and audio. Check it out after the jump.

Spider-Man Spinoff ‘Venom’ Still On The Way

29 09 2009

After making the announcement earlier this year, the writing team of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick behind Zombieland has confirmed they are working with Sony which is moving forward with the project. Despite the negative reaction to the character in Spider-Man 3, Sony remains committed to giving the character his own spin-off movie. Read the rest of this entry »

Trailer: A Christmas Carol

29 09 2009

A-Christmas-Carol

Who wants to take a trip into the uncanny valley? All kidding aside, the new trailer for Robert Zemeckis’ A Christmas Carol looks like an interesting take on the classic Dickens story. While I don’t exactly remember Scrooge shrinking, being shot through a pipe and being assaulted with icicles, I am sure that it will all look pretty damn cool on an eighty foot screen in 3D (Screw you, Jeff Katzenberg. You can’t make me not enjoy it). All we can really hope for at this point is that the film is nothing like The Polar Express. Trailer after the jump.
