Trailer: Toy Story 3

9 10 2009

Toy Story 3 Trailer

I wouldn’t expect this to stay on YouTube long, but the first trailer for Toy Story 3 by Pixar is up now. If you went back and watched Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in the 3D double feature (as you should), you’ve seen this before but it’s still work another glance. If you haven’t been following the news, Andy is moving off to college (yes that makes me feel old) and his old box of toys is accidentally shipped off to a day-care center. The laughs and all the heart from the first two are here and I can’t wait for this to drop in June. The official trailer should be out next week, but enjoy this while it lasts. Rant Of The Week: Godfather Vodka

9 10 2009

Ok, Hollywood now you’re just pissing me off.

I can deal with product placement in movies, as tacky and poorly handled as they often are. I’m fine with you making more money off of merchandising too. If someone wants to buy a Spider-Man action figure that’s their business, at least it’s tangentially related to the product (and where would itsjustsomerandomguy be without them). But when I have to walk down the aisle a see Godfather-brand vodka that’s where I draw the line. Read the rest of this entry »

Watch It!: Star Wars: Uncut Trailer

9 10 2009

Star Wars Uncut

In what is at once, of the cooler and geekier ideas to come around in a while, Star Wars: Uncut is giving fans the chance to remake A New Hope, 15 seconds at a time. Here’s the deal 472 people call a 15-second clip of the movie  to make their own, filming it however the see fit, and at the end, you’ve got an interesting new take on one of the most influential films of all time. The trailer seen after the break is one of those moments that can’t help but touch my inner geek. I just hope George Lucas doesn’t decide to shut the whole thing down. Hit the jump for the video and hurry to the site if you want to claim your clip. Read the rest of this entry »

Poster: The Lovely Bones

9 10 2009

The Lovely Bones

DreamWorks just released the first poster for Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. We posted the trailer way back in August, but this one is aiming squarely for award season, and as with most of Jackson’s work, it is visually stunning. The film also features Saoirse Ronan, who at 15 already has an Oscar-nomination for her work in Atonement, and the early buzz is she may be a contender for this as well. The Lovely Bones is due out December 11th, and I’m expecting big things. Poster (and a few stills) courtesy of Yahoo after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Trailer: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

9 10 2009

The official trailer for Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant is out, and it looks every bit as ridiculous as I hoped it would. This is the role Nicolas Cage was born to play, and may even surpass his performance in the bear punching, women beating classic The Wicker Man. Eric was worried that the tagline made him, “imagine Nicolas Cage walking around his house alone with handcuffs on,” but after this trailer anything is possible. When you’ve made Xzibit look like the normal one, you’ve done your job sir. Bravo.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan On Red Dawn Remake, Wolverines!

9 10 2009

The 1980s were a simpler time when a group of untrained high schoolers could take down an elite squadron of paratroopers… or at least that’s what Red Dawn brought me up believing. Jeffrey Dean Morgan sat down with MTV recently to explain why it’s time for a new generation of kids to learn that lesson. Read the rest of this entry »

Poster: Toy Story 3 (Rex)

9 10 2009

Toy Story 3 (Rex)

Pixar has released a poster for Toy Story 3 featuring Rex the Green Dinosaur (Wallace Shawn). Given the release of the film isn’t until next June, I would expect each character to get their own poster including Mr. Pricklepants. It’s Toy Story, I’m not going to try to hype this up, just give into that inner child you know it’s going to be great. Rex Poster from myspace after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

J.J. Abrams Talks Star Trek 2

9 10 2009

In an interview with Collider, J.J. Abrams set the record straight on some controversies that emerged from this summer’s blockbuster Star Trek, and laid the groundwork for an eagerly anticipated sequel. One of the elements that was praised in his take on the classic sci-fi series is how much fun it was for both diehards and nonfans, and Abrams says he and writing team of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are trying to keep that feeling.

One of the ways he may be looking at adding an element of wonder to the production is filming the sequel in 3D. Read the rest of this entry »

Jamie Foxx Working On Mike Tyson Biopic

9 10 2009

Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx in an interview with MTV revealed he’s serious about bringing the life of former World Heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson to the big screen. This has been one of those projects that has been rumored for years, but it seems like Foxx is kick starting it. In addition to making the rounds selling his interest in the project (with Tyson’s backing), but he wants to bring director Taylor Hackford on-board as well. Hackford directed Foxx in his Oscar-winning turn in Ray telling the story of legendary musician Ray Charles.

Foxx seemed to sympathize with the former boxer who is undergoing somewhat of a career revitalization in film.

“Look at society. Sometimes we put you up so high, and some people say it’s to get aim on you, but once you get up there it’s like: What do you do once you’re up there now?” Read the rest of this entry »
